One More Feather In The Cap

Compassionate artificial intelligence system is required for looking after those unable to care for themselves, especially elderly people.

It was 25-Jul-2019, I was busy with my kid. Suddenly I heard a voice of doorbell. I saw an old lady at my door in poor condition and her age was more than 70. She said, "will you please give me some work? And in return could you please provide me food." As per her language and accent, she was looking well educated. She was looking too weak, anaemic, stressed, tired and couldn’t walk without support. I asked her about her family background. She said, "my husband passed away two months back, I have no children. We were staying in a rented house but now it's not affordable for me to pay the rent. so currently, I am staying at the temple". She showed me all legal documents like death certificate of husband, Aadhar Card, PAN Card, Ration Card etc. after that I provided some food and asked her to come tomorrow also.
As she went, I thought that providing food will be only a temporary help for her so I have to find some sustainable solution for her food and shelter.
The whole day I was thinking only about her. I thought Old Age Home is the only option left for her. So, I started contacting nearby Old Age Homes. All were ready to give admission to her but there was a big hurdle in this path as all old age homes were paid and charges were around Rs.8000/- to Rs.15000/- per month.
I had a word with Adv Mr Paresh Khadilkar for guidelines, contact and suggestions. As per his guidance, I contacted Mother Teresa Home but again there was a hurdle, they only accept people who came through the police department. Immediately I went along with the old lady to Bhosari, Pune police station and I met with Police Inspector Mr Avtade. Then I completed all the formalities with the help of Mr Avtade sir and constable Mrs Aasha Ma'am and we started going towards Mother Teresa Home along with constable Mrs Aasha Ma'am.
We completed all the admission formalities and we admitted her in Mother Teresa Home.
It was a very affectionate moment for both of us which was like a mother dropping her child for the very first time to school.
Throughout this journey, two of us built a unique relationship which I could see in her eyes. Embracing the emotions, the police and I returned back.
After two months I visited Mother Teresa Home to meet her and I was surprised.
She came near me without any support and she was not only looking healthy but also well dressed and the most important thing that she was happy. The moment she saw me, she was having a lot of things to speak and share with me. She described her routine, timetable and as she was sharing all, tears of joy rolled down from her eyes.
At that moment, I felt like I had conquered the world.

I am thankful to Adv Mr Paresh Khadilkar, Police Inspector Mr Avtade and Constable Mr Aasha for their valuable guidance and kind help.

अनोखी माँ

There are many different levels involved in the adoption process that are often discussed — such as the adoptive parents and their families, the orphanage or Specialized Adoption Agency (SAA), CARA (Central Adoption Resource Authority), and the CWC (Child Welfare Committee). But one emotional aspect that often remains overlooked is the person who takes care of the child after they arrive at the institution, until they are adopted by their new parents — and who then lovingly hands the child over to them. This person, who steps into the role of a mother after the infant arrives at the care home, who looks after the baby with utmost affection and dedication, forms a sweet bond with the child. And when the time comes to hand the baby over to the adoptive parents, she goes through an emotional turmoil. Through this poem, I’ve tried to express that unique and heartfelt journey. I would like to present this humble poetic attempt before you. सुंदरसी इस दुनिया में, जब भी घोर अँधेरा छाता नन...

Unanswered Questions!

Unanswered Questions! When Life gets hard, Try to remember, The life you complain about is only a dream to some people.  It was 2nd May 2019, I have received a call from Dr Pramila Ma'am at early in the morning. She said, " An old man is staying on a footpath at Kokne Chowk from last week, he is not able to sit, stand and walk. We are providing food and clothes. But, I don't think he will survive for a long in this critical situation." I met him and examined the situation. His name was Subhash Kamble( Name changed) and his age was 75. I asked him about his background and history, and I was shocked after listening to his story. He said, "I am in a bad phase now But, I am a well-educated person. I have completed a bachelors degree from Ferguson College. I have also worked with Kirloskar Group Of Company. A few years back, my body got paralyzed hence, I am on the bed from the last ten years. My wife was taking care of me but, she expired last...

Situation matters!

Situation matters! Being a single mother is twice the work, twice the stress, and twice the tears...... A few days back, I received a call from Bhosari, Pune Police Station. API Mr Bhosle called me to solve a critical and sensitive case of a mother and child. A few hours ago a man came to the police station with a missing girl. He said, "This girl was running on the road. She was searching for her mother from an hour. Few men were moving around her. So, I was scared. As a responsible person of this society, I recognised that I have to submit her to the police station for her protection." He received appreciation from the PSI for his precious contribution towards society, And he went away. Police were trying to ask her questions to find out her identification. But, She was scared. She was not even ready to look at him. After some time, We got to know that she is living with her mother in a rented house. She is six years old, and her name is Shreya(name changed). I was sitting...
