Situation matters!
Being a single mother is twice the work, twice the stress, and twice the tears......
A few days back, I received a call from Bhosari, Pune Police Station. API Mr Bhosle called me to solve a critical and sensitive case of a mother and child.
A few hours ago a man came to the police station with a missing girl. He said, "This girl was running on the road. She was searching for her mother from an hour. Few men were moving around her. So, I was scared. As a responsible person of this society, I recognised that I have to submit her to the police station for her protection." He received appreciation from the PSI for his precious contribution towards society, And he went away.
Police were trying to ask her questions to find out her identification. But, She was scared. She was not even ready to look at him. After some time, We got to know that she is living with her mother in a rented house. She is six years old, and her name is Shreya(name changed). I was sitting with her in the waiting room. And I was trying to accumulate more information from her.
After an hour, a lady came to a police station and started screaming in front of PSI. And said, " My daughter is missing. Please find her. I can't live without my child. I tried to search for her. But, She is missing. I beg you. Please help me".
After listening to her mother's voice, She started running towards her mother's voice. They saw each other. Suddenly, the mother holds her daughter tightly. And tears of happiness were rolling down from her eyes. As per her mother's statement, Shreya is a single parent-child. Her father expired due to alcoholism. Mother did not have any other option except to leave her alone at home. She needs to work to feed her child and pay for shelter. So, the whole day Shreya stays at home alone. After the verification police handover Shreya to her mother.
When we were trying to collect information about her mother, I was angry. I thought about how careless parents are in our society. But when the reality came forward, my anger completely took another shape. Situation matters for every action of human beings.
I asked her mother, Now onwards how you are going to manage? She said, " I will lock the door from tomorrow." Her pain and fear were reflecting on her mother's eyes. As a mother, I was feeling her pain. I asked her, " If you get the job where you can go with your child, Then will you be ready to do the job?". She asked, "Is it Possible?" I said, "I will try my best and get back to you."
I started communicating with my associations. After three days, I got to know that one of the reputed NGO named Nachiket Balgram have a vacancy of caretaker for orphan children and they were in the requirement of residential staff. Immediately I visited that NGO and demonstrated to them all the situation of that needy mother and child.
The founder of the NGO said, " Thanks Shrutika we were searching for a needy candidate, and you referred us the perfect candidate. I felt on cloud nine. They said we have allowed her to work here with her child. We will take responsibility of her child's education and we will provide a stipend to her mother.
Now both are safe and happy at "Nachiket".

Shrutika, each and every story of yours is raising my respect for you.
